Madeline Rinaldo

Madeline Virginia Rinaldo, 93, of Steubenville died Thursday May 15, 2014, at Valley Hospice.

She was born on November 2, 1920, in Wellsville. She was the eldest daughter of the late Gabriel and Giovena Natale Giordano.

Madeline is also preceded in death by her husband Michael Joseph Rinaldo on April 28, 2000, her brothers; James (D.O.W., Normandy, 1944), John Giordano, Fred Giordano, and sisters, Rose Vallone, Mary Johnson, and Antoinette Walker.

Madeline was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, the former St. Anthony Catholic Church and it’s CWC, and a member and past trustee of the former Sons of Italy Lodge 705.

She is survived by her son, James (Kathleen) Rinaldo of Toronto; and her daughter, Marianne (Samuel Jr.) DiFabbio of Steubenville; five grandchildren, Jason (Donna) Rinaldo of Silver Spring, MD, Nicole (Robert) Runco of Wintersville, Jamie (Todd) Pipoly of Columbiana, Samuel (Kelly) DiFabbio, III of Dallas, and Michael DiFabbio of Las Vegas, NV; six great-grandchildren, Alec Tegano, Cole Tegano, Nicholas Rinaldo, Anthony Rinaldo, Bayden Pipoly and Leah Pipoly; one brother, Samuel (Carol) Giordano of East Liverpool; and two sisters, Geraldine Bryer of East Liverpool, and Carmella (William) Boyce of Wellsville.

Being the eldest daughter she was made to quit school at 16 years of age to help raise her brothers and sisters. She also was instrumental in helping her three aunts: Concetta Pepe, Josephine Salatino and Catherine Cataldo who all had large families.

The family of Madeline would like to thank the Carriage House, Valley Hospice, and Drs. John Figel and Matthew Colflesh for the care given to their mother.

Calling hours are Sunday 3-7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 6:45 p.m.
