World War II veteran, Milorad “Mil” Radeka, 87, died May 20. Originally from Weirton, WV, he moved his family to Spartanburg, SC, in the mid 1970’s to work with Jack Rabbit Photo. A professional photographer by trade, Mil also had a passion for carpentry, woodworking and electronics. He was a craftsman, always building, repairing and overseeing projects for friends and family. His greatest joy came from spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughters, Sydney and Kate Reich.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maria Lengyel Radeka, and three daughters Mrs. Lynda Reich (Peter) of Roebuck, SC, Mrs. Karen Lee Ross (Keith) of Wallace WV, and Dr. Joyce Radeka (Dr. Frank Hodges) of Columbia, SC. His grandchildren include Dr. Hannah Ross Kim of Greensboro, NC, Mr. Adam Reich of Pauline, SC, Mr. Amos Ross of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Ellen Ross Zamora of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Lydia Ross of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and great grandchildren Sydney Reich, Kate Reich and Porter Zamora. He will be sadly missed by his remaining siblings Mr. Peter Radeka (Louise) and Mr. Robert Radeka (Dianne).
A celebration of Mil’s life will be held in July. Memorials to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice (864-560-3900) would be greatly appreciated for the compassionate care they provided.
