Paul Porreca

Paul Porreca, 64, of Grove City, OH, passed away in his home on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Paul was born on June 21, 1949 to the late Paul Porreca and Alberta Rinaldi Porreca.

Paul attended The Ohio State University where he met his wife of 39 years, Joanna Mogan Porreca.

Paul was already an accomplished accompanist during his time at OSU and he continued sharing his passion throughout his life by performing with church choirs, the Columbus Children’s Choir, by accompanying singers and instrumentalists of all capabilities and by entertaining the family at gatherings. Most recently, Paul was the organist and pianist at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Grove City, Ohio, where he and Joanna served together for over 15 years. Paul performed with attentiveness, a delicate touch and a constant sense of humor.

Paul was an avid chess player – his favorite account was playing 18 simultaneous games and winning all but two.

Paul was quick with his wit and brought joy to everyone around him. Paul retired from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation in 2009 and spent the last five years as a full-time husband, father, grandfather and church musician.

Paul is survived by his wife, Joanna Porreca; his children, Natalie and Matt Adams, Matthew Porreca, Staff Sergeant Anthony and Shandra Porreca, Alexander Porreca and Jessica Nadalin and Laura and Zach Haney; his grandchildren, Preston Porreca and Benjamin and Oliver Adams; and Paul’s siblings, Mark Porreca and Lisa Porreca Graham.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul Porreca and his mother, Alberta Rinaldi Porreca.
