Ruth (Bossick) Gorby, 95, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at home.
She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Gorby, beloved mother of Thomas W. and Marianne Gorby, and dear grandmother of William T., Matthew D., and Elizabeth G. Gorby.
She was a resident of Bridgeport, OH, for 38 years and most recently Cincinnati, OH, with her daughter, Marianne.
Ruth was born in Sturgeon, PA, on May 30, 1918, the third of 14 Bossick children. Survived by six siblings: Berniece Gilmore, Jerry Jackson, Bert Rensi, Tom Bossick, Janet Dunaway and Barbara Bossick.
She graduated from Smithfield, OH, High School in 1936 and West Liberty State College, School of Dental Hygiene in 1950. Her working career was spent in health care ranging from assisting a rural doctor in the 1940s to dental hygienist at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, WV, where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed her retirement years visiting with her sisters and traveling.
Preceded in death by seven siblings; Kay Dailey, Virginia Smith, Jack Bossick, Bob Bossick, Lorraine Bossick, Betty Jane Bossick and Jackie Tabacchi.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 209 Cross St., Hopedale, OH 43976, on Friday. May 30, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Interment in the West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA, on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
