RENFORTH, Irene S., 91, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014, in her home.
She was born May 1, 1923, in McDonald, PA, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Machusko) Shimko. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Renforth, Jr., on Aug, 21, 1967; two brothers, John and Emil Shimko; and a sister, Mary Kansas.
Irene served her country in the U.S. Army, WAC during WWII. She was retired matron from the Indian Creek School System and she also worked in the sorting department at the former Colliers Steel Co., in Colliers, WV. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction and she enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia L. (Robert, Jr.) Blackburn, of Mingo Junction; three sons, Richard Renforth of Mingo Junction, Robert H. (Doris) Renforth of Phoenix, AZ and Roland (Bobbi) Renforth of Mingo; four grandchildren, Samuel Renforth, Colleen Renforth, Ashley Renforth and Nickolas Renforth.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant. On Wednesday Irene will Lay in State at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 a.m., with Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV, with Military Honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

There will be a Vigil service on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
