Joseph R. Nocera, 86, of Steubenville died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Trinity West.
He was born August 25, 1927, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Natale and Catherine Tiscanerie Nocera.
Joseph is also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Anthony, and Dominic.
Joseph was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Cold Strip Department, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Hoover Nocera whom he married December 9, 1947; one son, Joseph P. (Linda) Nocera of Steubenville; one daughter. Sandra Nocera of Steubenville; six grandchildren, Joe, Rich, Amber, Nicholas, Courtney, and Zachary; seven great-grandchildren, Zoe, Carmen, Rocco, Benjamin, Alfonso Joseph “AJ”, Liam, and Connor.
Joseph was a member of the DAV, Knights of St. Anthony, and was a Steubenville Little League coach and also a volunteer coach for Steubenville City Schools sports for many years.
Calling hours are Sunday 1-4 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Fr. Thomas Nau will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in Joseph’s name to Steubenville High School.
