Surrounded by his loving family, Charles Anthony “Chuck” Oliver, 65, of Weirton, passed away from heart disease Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home.
Born May 15, 1949, in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of Inez Berarducci Oliver of Weirton and the late Anthony Oliver.
Chuck was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Anna Danielle Shultz and his nephew, Mark Anthony Oliver.
With 38 years of service, Chuck retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was very active in the choir. He was a member of the Saint Paul’s Holy Name, K of C 3734. Among his activities, Chuck was a member of the Ohio Valley Mopar Club, Steel Valley Bowling League, Weirton men’s slow pitch softball league, Jeff- Tech men’s baseball league and the American Postal Workers Union, and he and his wife also participated in Marriage Encounter.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Cynthia Machesney Oliver of Weirton; daughters, Carrie Shultz and her husband Louis Edwin Shultz of Joffre, PA, and Casey Oliver of Weirton; a sister, Cecilia Wounaris and her husband Pete also of Weirton; and a grandson, Caleb Louis Charles Shultz.
Visitation will be held Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch and Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will concelebrate.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
