Jean E. Irwin
Jean E. Irwin, 95 of North Canton, OH, formerly of Eldersville, PA, died on June 30, 2014, in her sleep at St. Lukes Rest Home, North Canton, OH.
Jean was born on August 23, 1918, on Hall’s Road, Brooke County, WV. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Mechling) Hall.
Jean was raised on a Brooke County farm and started baking early in her childhood for 35 traveling farm hands at family farms during harvesting time. She was raised in a family that had a tremendous impact on an emerging Brooke County.
Jean was a renown pie baker supporting her church, Tent United Presbyterian Church and numerous civic organizations. She and her husband “Red” Irwin always provided food and assistance for those in their Eldersville, PA, area. Jean was a tireless supporter of the Follansbee Blue Wave High School Band from her own high school days. Jean was a good wife and mother always providing for her family.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dean “Red” Irwin, Sr. in 2001, a daughter, Carol Ann (Irwin) Jacob, sister, Edna Freshwater and a brother, Raymond Hall.
Jean is survived by her son, Robert D. (Linda) Irwin Jr. of Uniontown, OH; a son-in-law, John Jacob of Maryland; five grandchildren, David Andrew (Jennifer) Lamp of Louisville, OH, Robert Thomas (Erika) Irwin of North Canton, OH, Marci (Christopher) McNamara of Uniontown, OH, Molly Jacob and John G. Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Emma Marcella McNamara, Brooklynne Faith and Caleb Robert Irwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday July 2, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Thursday, July 3, 2014, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 with Pastor Jim Rhodes Officiating.
Interment will follow next to her husband, Robert Dean Irwin, Sr. at Tent Church Cemetery, along with her parents, siblings, other family and friends.
