POTENZINI, Josephine, 90, of Mingo Junction passed from this life peacefully, surrounded by family on July 28, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Butta, her husband, Pete Potenzini and sister, Katie Sells.
She was known as Nana to all who were touched by her generosity and understanding. She had a passion for cooking and showed her love by lending counsel to those in need of compassion. Her faith carried her through life and gave her strength throughout.
Josephine was a member of several religious, civic and social organizations including St. Agnes Parish choir, Catholic Women’s Club, Democratic Women’s Club, and St. Frances Society. She worked for many years at the St. Agnes Elementary School cafeteria. Before that she was a longtime employee of the Kobacker Company and PicWay Shoes. She was also a presiding judge of her precinct voting polls.
In 2013, at the age of 89 she was awarded the Diocese of Steubenville Woman of the Year by the Knights of Columbus for her work within the church community. She will be missed by all who came to know her.
Josephine is survived in death by five adoring children in Sandy (Terry) Reed, Rose Ann (Merle) McHugh, Renita (Timothy) Belardine, Mary Jo (Timothy) Ice and Pete (Therese) Potenzini along with 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life. In addition she is survived by her sisters, Connie Mosko, Isabelle McCoullough, Alvina Saunders, brother Rico Butta and several loving nieces and nephews.
Friends and family received on Thursday July 31, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at St. Agnes Church, 204 Saint Clair Ave., Mingo Junction, OH. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August, 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes.
