Nicholas Kendrick

Mr. Nicholas A. Kendrick, beloved husband of the former Cheryl Nicholson, of Navarre, FL, passed away at his home on June 23, 2014.

Nick was also the father of Jason M. Kendrick of Alexandria, VA, and Jacob J. Kendrick and father-in-law to Melissa Kendrick of Punxsutawney, PA, and stepfather to Nicole Y. Ferrar of Wheeling, WV.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Kendrick, and brother, John Daniel Kendrick.

Nick is survived by his mother, Dorothy Kendrick; brothers, Donald and Thomas; and his grandchildren, Nathan, Emma and Jackie.

Nick was born and raised in Weirton, WV. He graduated from Madonna High School in 1966. Nick served in the U.S. military and was a Vietnam veteran. He served as a U.S. Navy corpsman at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and aboard the USS Ranger, helping save the lives of injured service members.

Following his career in the military, Nick began a 38-year career working at Weirton Steel. Nick worked at a variety of different positions from his career spanning from 1971-2003. He began his career as a crane operator and completed it as a heavy metals operator.

Upon his retirement, Nick and Cheryl moved from Bethany, WV, to Navarre, FL, in 2005.

Nick was a devoted husband, loving father, and he will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

The family will hold a private memorial service in Weirton, WV, on July 12.
