Alberta Rea Podar of Las Vegas passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 25, 2014.
She was born in Follansbee, W.Va., on June 4, 1927 to James and Mary Rea.
She married the love of her life, Tom Podar, in 1962, and they began their life together in Steubenville, Ohio. In 1971, they moved to Las Vegas, making it their permanent home. She will be dearly missed by the many she has touched.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Podar, and brothers Donald Rea and Vincent “Sonny” Rea.
She is survived by her loving son Nick Podar and his longtime companion Jennie McCuskey of Las Vegas; brother Frank (Barb) Rea of Fla., sister Joan Schenerlein of W.Va.; sister-in-law Doris Rea of W.Va.; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and good friend and neighbor Lori Beasley and family.
Visitation will be Monday, September 1 from 4-7 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, and services will be Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Viator’s Catholic Church.
