PHILLIPS, Dale Byron, 81, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Presidential Center in Marion, OH.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Steubenville, OH to the late Benjamin and Anna Moeller Phillips.
He was employed at Weirton Steel Corporation.
He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Steubenville and he enjoyed singing as a member of the Society For The Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.).
Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Douglas) Frizzell of Cincinnati; Karen (Patrick) Hostetter of Marion and Janet Jones of Findlay; two brothers, Benjamin (Audrey) Phillips and Robert (Joan) Phillips; four sisters, Betty Busacca, Annette Bugnone, Jean Conrad and Linda (Richard) Foster; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Viscoglosi Phillips and three sisters, Martha Borders, Katherine Palmer and Marjorie Phillips.
Friends and family may call at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, Steubenville on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Union Cemetery Chapel.
