SMITH, Richard Michael, 40, of Amsterdam, OH passed away Aug. 18, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born on March 2, 1974, in Weirton, WV, a son of Clifford J. and Shirleen A. (Gaston) Smith of Colliers, WV.
Richard was an organ donor.
He was Baptist by faith. Richard worked for RG Johnson Company Inc.
Richard graduated in 1993 from Brooke High School. He started as a drummer in the Smith Country Band. He was a member of the Follansbee Middle School Band, Brooke High School Marching and Jazz Band, Wesleyan College Jazz Band, Second Nature, Fool Service, Tunnel Head, and was currently the drummer for Fallen Awake. Richard played for many fundraisers and awareness groups. Richard lived to ride, hunt, and fish.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifford W. (Goldie Marie) Smith; maternal grandparents, Albert F. (Elmina Ford) Gaston; and niece, Hannah Marie Smith.
In addition to his parents, Clifford and Shirleen, he is survived by his wife, Jessica (Jakacki) Smith of Amsterdam; step-sons, William Allan Bonar and Damon Michael Bonar; brothers, William Anderson (Katrina) Smith of Morgantown, WV and Chet Alan (Melissa) Smith of Boyers, PA; nieces and nephews, Jared William Smith, Joshua David Smith, Jessica Marie Smith, and Avery Prescott Smith.
Friends will be received on Friday at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville from noon-2 p.m. and 5 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 7 p.m.
