Verla (Wilson) Brady, 95, of Follansbee, WV, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
Verla was born on December 1, 1918, in East Liverpool, OH. She was the daughter of the late James D. and Alice Grace (Allen) Wilson.
Verla played the piano for 50 plus years at the Hooverson Heights Nazarene Church, where she was an active and faithful member. She was the librarian at Hooverson Heights Library for 17 years. Verla loved to read, play Scrabble with Mae, and sit on the back porch and drink coffee.
In addition to her parents, Verla was preceded in death by her husband, Carrel Brady; an infant daughter, Betty Frances; and a sister, Dorothy.
Verla is survived by her five children, June (Russell) Link, Hartzel (Carol) Brady, Linda (David) Uhor, all of Follansbee, WV, Sharon Brady of Columbus, OH, and Robert (Sharon) Brady of Carlton, MI; 10 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving “just like a sister,” Mae Brady.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and again on Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 with Reverend Harry Knight, officiating.
Interment will follow, next to her husband, Carrel, at St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV.
