Barbara Pete

PETE, Barbara “Peppy,” 87, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in the Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, OH.

Born Sept. 21, 1926, in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Kolich Bartolovich.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John J. Pete on May 24, 2001, whom she married Dec. 1, 1945, brothers, Matthew, John and Joseph Bartolovich and sisters, Katherine Hecathorn, Ann Stanich, Mary Ann Vucic and Rose Barnabei.

Peppy was a homemaker, who enjoyed volunteering her time with the Weirton Medical Center and the Weirton Geriatric Center, where she was named Volunteer of the Year at the Weirton Geriatric Center.

In her free time, she loved to cheer on her Pittsburgh Pirates. Peppy was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, and the Christian Mothers, Three Score Seniors, and AARP.

She is survived by her son, John Michael Pete and his wife, Julie of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; daughter Gloria Suchko and her husband, Michael of Weirton; two grandchildren, Matthew Joseph Pete and his wife, Beth of Pittsburgh, PA. and Phillip John Pete of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, John Matthew Pete and Victoria Ann Pete of Pittsburgh, PA.

Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
