MARKER, Gladys Virginia, 102, years young, of Bloomingdale, OH, died Monday evening in her home after a long illness.
She was born in Swanson Station, OH on July 10, 1912.
Gladys was preceded in death by many friends and relatives, a few of which were her parents, Edward and Ella Cunningham Tubaugh; her husband, Noel H. Marker; a daughter, Margaret Marker; two sons, Harry S. and D. Ray Marker; five brothers, Kenneth, Lester, Harold, Russell and Carl Tubaugh; and four sisters, Margaret, Lillie, Mary and Katherine.
If you were lucky enough to know Gladys and visit her, she would tell you about her little world, which was everything outside her window’ and how everything was good – except that wrestling on TV. But she had a way of crossing that out.
Gladys was a member of the Unionport Christian Church for many years; Unionport Grange; and a charter member of the Wayne Township Senior Citizens.
In her younger years, she worked for Standard Carbon Industries in Wintersville, making airplane parts, and as a maid for Miller’s Motel and Restaurant in Bloomingdale.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Albert) Hoagland (with whom she made her home) of Bloomingdale; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and lots and lots of friends.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home, 324 High St., Hopedale, on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with services there Friday, September 5 at 1 p.m. Pastors Jeremiah Kuttler and Hubert Granger will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bloomingdale Cemetery.
