Doris Iafrate

Doris Jean (Allen) Iafrate, 82 of Follansbee, W.Va., died peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Weirton Medical Center.

She was born July 21, 1934, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Virginia (Custer) Allen. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carla Marie and her brother, John Allen.

Doris graduated from Windham High School in 1953 and retired from Hood’s Pharmacy in Follansbee where she worked as a pharmacy technician. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Doris is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, Geno Louis Iafrate Jr. at home; four children, Gina Lynne (Don) Mahlke of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa (Paul) Simmons of Warwood, W.Va., Marcie (Bill) Rendulich of Weirton, W.Va., and Geno Michael (Michele) Iafrate of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Sandy (Tony) Lynn of Boardman, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28 from 4-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV. A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by her brother-in-law Albert Iafrate.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 29 at noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 1017 Jefferson St., Follansbee, WV, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
