George Kruise

George A. ‘Bud’ Kruise, 92, of Butler, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, in the VA Hospital in Butler.

George was born in Toronto, OH, on Dec. 21, 1924, son the late George and Mary ‘Milly’ (Kutruff) Kruise.

He was a 1942 graduate of Toronto High School and was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Wharton. George was employed in Florida by the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his woodshop making crafts.

Bud was active on the reunion committee of the Toronto High School, as well as the reunion committee for veterans who served aboard the USS Wharton.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by first wife, Ethel; three brothers and two sisters; his second wife, Margery Wiles Seybert Kruise in 2012.

George is survived by a son, James D. Westphal (Robert Treat) of Detroit, MI; two step-daugthers as well as a number of step-grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, many local nieces and nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass was held last Wednesday. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong Co. Military Honors were provided by the Chicora, Bradys Bend, and East Brady American Legions.
