Michael Rumora

Michael J. “Mitch” (Eggs) Rumora, 89, of Weirton, W.Va., died Friday, February 3, 2017, at his home.

Born November 17, 1927, in Weirton, he was a son of the late Nick and Matilda Ticich Rumora. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Andy and Nick Rumora, and his sister Anita Karavanic.

Mitch started his career working for Weirton Steel at the age of 16. After graduating high school he served in the United States Army 1946-1947. He spent the majority of his career in law enforcement as a Traffic Sergeant with the City of Weirton Police Department and eventually retiring as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Webster.

He dedicated close to 30 years of his life coaching area youth in basketball and baseball, and was instrumental in the formation of the Weirton Baseball Association.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 84.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Genevieve Waszak Rumora; a son, Craig (Cindy) Rumora of Katy, Texas; a daughter Lynn Agans of Denver, Colo.; his grandchildren, Christian, Rebekkah and Jordan Rumora and Brenna (Rob) Monsen; and six great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Mitch’s wishes, there will be no visitation. His cremated remains will be placed at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
