Robert DeLong

DELONG, Robert “Bob” Eugene, of Cameron Hollow RD, New Cumberland, died at home in the early morning of Feb. 26, 2017. He was 73 years old.

The son of the late Robert DeLong and Vera (Silliman) Chambers was born on Dec. 19, 1943, and grew up in Newell, WV.

In 1963 he married Teresa Manypenny DeLong. Following marriage, the couple settled in New Cumberland, WV, where they remained and celebrated 53 years of marriage this past October.

DeLong was an incredibly devoted husband, provider and loving father to the couple’s three children: Tammy Crago (husband Tim) of York, SC, Robert DeLong Jr. (wife Chrissy) of Fort Mill, SC, and Joe DeLong (wife Danielle) of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Coupled with his greatest joy, spending time with family, he also had a true love for animals, as was evidenced by his chosen career, training thoroughbred race horses, and his willingness to care for stray animals.

In addition to his wife, children and their spouses, he is survived by his brother, Rodney DeLong (Winky) of Sebring, OH; sisters, Charlene DeLong of New Cumberland, and LynnDora DeLong of Lavergne, TN; and eight grandchildren, Emily, Nathanial, and Isaac Crago, and Savanna, Holli, Skyler, London and Sophia DeLong.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah DeLong.

Services are being held at Turley Funeral Home in New Cumberland, WV. The family will be receiving the public for viewing on Friday, March 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Turley’s Saturday at noon.
