Clara Szydlowski

Clara Szydlowski, 92, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, due to complications of Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her children and the prayers of loved ones at the time of her passing.

Clara was born on August 18, 1924, in Baltimore, MD.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfonse “Epki,” after 58 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen and Martha.

Clara, devoted in her faith, was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church for many years. She was a legal secretary for many attorneys and her career included being secretary for the mayor of Steubenville, where she loved coordinating events for the city.

Clara enjoyed traveling, visiting shrines and being near the beach. Her hobbies included photography, making photo albums, decorating cakes and making cookies.

Clara is survived by son Alan (Mary Lou) Szydlowski of Indialantic, FL; daughter Joyce (Robert) Ruday of San Antonio, FL; and daughter Diane Taninecz (George) of Peninsula, OH; grandchildren Sean (Clare) Ruday and Susie Szydlowski; and great-grandchildren Brody, Sawyer and Greyson Ruday. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who truly loved her and appreciated the time they spent with her.

Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Steubenville. Fr. Tim Huffman will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m.
