John G. Synodinos

John G. Synodinos, 84, of Wintersville, died Sunday, September 24, 2017, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1933, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late George and Agnes Partheides Synodinos.

Also preceding him in death are one brother, James “Jimmy the Greek” Snyder; three sisters, Despina Papalios, Marika Berris, and Angela “Angie” Kayafas.

John was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He was a graduate of TESST College of Technology, Maryland. He was retired from TIMET and also was a real estate investor. John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Saltsman DiNicola Synodinos, whom he married August 18, 1990; four daughters, Diana (Mark) Synodinos-Ellison, Sherri (Kent) DiNicola- Kovach, Michele (Thomie) DiNicola-Timmons all of Columbus, Amy (Patrick) DiNicola-Mossman of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, Christina Synodinos, Connor and Kate Kovach, Joe, Andy and Johnny Timmons, Evan and Elena Mossman.

John was a member of AHEPA, member and past president of the National Chios Society. He was also a member of Holy Trinity parish council and was a Village of Wintersville councilman for twelve years.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 300 South Fourth Street, Steubenville, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Trisagion service will be on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Entombment will follow at Union Cemetery.
