Monte James Montequin, 68, of Burgettstown, died Friday, October 20, 2017.
He was born April 5, 1949 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Manuel “Dutch” and Hilda Lounder Montequin.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Montequin was employed as a mechanic for Lounder’s Chrysler Plymouth Garage in Burgettstown, a baker at Petrucci’s Market in Burgettstown, a chef in both Palm Springs, CA ,and in Buffalo, NY. In his later years, he was known throughout the area for his “Famous Monte’s Buffalo Wings,”, which he made at the Slovenian Club and T’s Locker Room in Burgettstown.
Mr. Montequin was an accomplished musician playing the guitar, banjo, violin and other instruments. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his sister, Rosemary (Russell) Orenchuk of Burgettstown; his niece, Kimberlee (Frank) Sabo of Burgettstown; his nephew, Bryan Orenchuk of Burgettstown; his great-nieces, Alexa and Francesca Sabo; his aunt, Rose Lounder of Pittsburgh; and many cousin and friends.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his sister, Anita Montequin.
Friends will be received from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017, in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 23, with the Rev. George Moneck officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.
