Thomas William (Mingo) Knutsen, 76, of Weirton passed away on May 24, 2018, at his home.

He was born on November 25, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, son of the late Howard L. Knutsen and Dorothy (Sterling) Welling.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother Helena (Sis) Knutsen, his stepfather Earl Welling, and brothers Marvin and Howard Knutsen.

Tom is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna (Moldas) Knutsen, daughters Rachel (Angelo) Pulcini of Weirton, Kris (Rob) McConnell of Apopka, Fla., son Scott (Beth) Knutsen of Apopka, Fla., and grandchildren Erik Burch and Hannah Knutsen.

Tom was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. After graduating from Mingo High School, Tom went to Iowa University and left to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964 as a DM2. Tom was employed at Hoff Funeral Home, Titanium Metals, and later retired from Weirton Steel with 35 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 33, the VFW Post 2716, the Moose Lodge 688, the FOE in Elm Grove, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Tom loved spending time with his family, friends, and his granddog Nakita.

He had the gift of gab and loved socializing with everyone. He also enjoyed his morning walks, golfing, and was an avid Pirates fan, going to Bradenton for spring training yearly.

His wish was to be cremated and there will be no visitation.
