Rom Michael Bellisario, 74, of Weirton, passed away September 1, 2018 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Born July 1, 1944 in Sora, Frosinone, Italy, he was the son of the late Mario and Elvira (Gabrielle) Bellisario.
Rom retired after 32 years as the president of Dwyer Instruments in Michigan City, Indiana in 2013. He had previously worked for 15 years at the Westinghouse Transformer Division in Sharon, PA, as a manufacturing manager. He came to the United States at the age of 14 speaking no English and excelled in school, graduating a year early. He then went on to college at WVU, working summers at Weirton Steel, graduating with an engineering degree,
Rom had many talents. He could fix just about anything and was an accomplished wood worker. He enjoyed wine making, cars and motorcycles, and most of all spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Bohach Bellisario; sons Michael (Debbie) Bellisario of Morgantown, WV and Steven Bellisario of Erie, PA; grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Bellisario; and sisters, Yolanda Pekarscik of Boyton Springs, FL and Rita (Athanasios) Chaliotis of Weirton. Rom will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and his good friend, Bill Calahan, of South Bend IN, who was like a son to him.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, WV. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
