A great night, a great cause

One of Weirton’s pre-eminent social events is fast approaching, and we hope to once again see the community show its support.

The Mardi Gras Gala, held each year by the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights, is set to take place Feb. 9 at Williams Country Club, and if you haven’t gotten your tickets, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

The Rotary Club puts together this night of fun, live music, dancing and friendship as part of its efforts to serve the community. Each year, the club selects an area non-profit to be the beneficiary of the gala’s proceeds.

This year, Piece by Peace, an organization located at Krazy Bout Sportz which offers sensory rooms to assist those living with autism, Alzheimer’s and other conditions.

Plans are to use the funds from the Mardi Gras event to assist with the creation of a second sensory room – a “Quiet Room” – at the facility.

The Mardi Gras Gala features live entertainment by local musical group Legend, a terrific food selection, a variety of prizes and lots of fun for everyone in attendance.

This is a great, locally organized, event and has always drawn a crowd. We are sure this year will be no different.

If you are interested in attending, please contact a member of the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights for more information.
