Support Rotary fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Weirton and its guests will gather at Williams Country Club Saturday for its annual fundraiser gala.
This year, with the event set for the same day as the Kentucky Derby, the gala, which traditionally has been known as the Black and White Ball, has been termed as the “Run for the Roses,” and will reflect a derby theme.
This will be the ninth such event for the Rotary Club of Weirton, and it is always a great night for those in attendance.
The Rotary Club of Weirton supports a variety of programs each year, including the local youth soccer league and providing scholarships to several graduating high school seniors from Hancock and Brooke counties.
It also provides funding to assist local organizations, and internationally through the Polio Plus program, created to work toward the eradication of polio around the globe.
The annual gala has become one of the club’s biggest fundraisers of the year, making it important for the community to continue showing its support.
In addition to the “Run for the Roses” theme, the gala will feature musical performances by the Joseph Sisters and Groove Doctors.
Weirton is fortunate to have so many groups and organizations willing to step up and give back to the community, and our local Rotarians are among those helping to lead the way with such service.
We thank those who have already stood behind the club, through ticket purchases and sponsorships, and remind residents there is still time to lend a hand.
The club deserves to be supported in these efforts, so we hope to see a great crowd turn out for what we’re sure will be a fantastic event.
