Support Comfort House through event

We’ve heard the weather on Sunday won’t necessarily be ideal for an outdoor event, but we hope that doesn’t deter our residents from coming out and supporting one of our area’s great organizations.

Comfort House will be holding a special concert, with many other activities, Sunday afternoon at the Weirton Event Center and we encourage our readers to make sure there will be a big crowd.

Comfort House is a child advocacy center for Hancock and Brooke counties, which relies entirely on grants and donations to operate. Among their services, the organization works with local law enforcement to coordinate interviews with children during investigations of domestic violence, sexual assault or other possible situations at home.

We thank those who continue to show their support for Comfort House, including the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 84, which donated $1,000 to assist with this event. We are sure others will follow their lead and find a way to lend a hand, even if it is simply to attend Sunday’s event.

In addition to the concert, with a lineup including the Joseph Sisters, Abby Abbondanza (formerly of the Povertyneck Hillbillies), Infinitely Distant and Pat Heiserman, there will be many games, activities and even chances to win a variety of prizes.

Some of the planned drawings include gift baskets with weekend resort stays, sports memorabilia, Pirates tickets, and outdoor grill and Fiesta Ware.

There will be face painting, corn hole, miniature golf and a duck pond, and although there is a $10 charge at the game, kids up to 18 years of age get in free.

Show your support and come on out for a great event.
