Fun run to give boost to senior center

One of the Greater Weirton Senior Center’s biggest annual fundraisers is making its return this week, and we encourage our area residents to show their support.

The eighth-annual Motorcycle Fun Run will be held Friday, beginning at the senior center parking lot.

Unlike in previous years, where the event would take place over a Saturday afternoon, this year’s ride will be held Friday night, with bikers set to depart the senior center at 6 p.m., driving around the area and returning at approximately 8 p.m.

The Greater Weirton Senior Center provides many valuable resources and services to our local elders, with meals, activities and other programs made available each day.

For some, these are the only opportunities to get a regular meal, enjoy time with their peers or have access to some services.

Without fundraisers such as Friday’s Fun Run, many of these programs would not be available.

The Fun Run has always seen a great crowd, and even with the changes, we are sure this year will be no different.

Even if you don’t ride a motorcycle, there are ways to help and a great event to enjoy, with a dinner and live musical entertainment to be included.

There is still time to register, so if you are interested, please contact the senior center for more information.
