Concert series a growing success
In its second year, the Summer Sizzle concert series in Weirton saw a great deal of growth, not only with improvements to the facility and its visibility within the community, but with the attendance of area residents.
Primarily sporting a schedule full of talent from throughout the Tri-State Region, there has been a great lineup of concerts this year, with larger crowds gathering almost every Friday night this summer at the Weirton Event Center.
The series ended Friday with a performance by Beatlemania Magic, a Beatles tribute band known for bringing in large crowds looking to reminisce over the days of the early British Invasion.
But there has been great local talent showcased as well, with groups like Spinning Jenny, U.S. Kids, Three’s Company, 40 Plus, Legend and the Joseph Sisters taking the stage.
It always takes time for something to catch on. Adjustments are sometimes made to correct those things which didn’t work.
We feel the work which has gone into the Weirton Event Center in the last two years has been a great investment for the Weirton community, and we encourage everyone to take some time to check it out.
The concert series has been the flagship program for the Event Center and we are sure it will only continue to grow in the years ahead, attracting a variety of local, regional, and possibly even national musical acts, and drawing in even larger crowds as it moves ahead.
We look forward to what the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau has in store for us next year, and if you’ve never attended one of these concerts we hope you will mark it on your calendar now.
