Exhibit showcases our history

Anyone interested in the earliest days of West Virginia should take some time to visit the Brooke County Museum in the next few weeks.

“Born of Rebellion:?West Virginia Statehood” will be on display through mid-November and showcases stories from the people and events involved in the formation of the Mountain State.

Funded by Columbia Gas Transmission, a NiSource Company, and the We the People program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, among many others, the exhibit was created with the help of graphics arts students at West Virginia University who used photos, maps and other illustrations to highlight various issues that played a part in West Virginia’s birth.

It is always a good thing when we have an opportunity to learn about those who have laid the path to put us where we are today, and with the story of West Virginia’s statehood – with all of its twists and turns – that especially is the case.

If you are a fan of history, or just interested in learning more about the Ohio Valley and West Virginia in particular, we encourage you to check it out.
