Congratulations on perfect season

Their victory over Greenbrier West on Dec. 7 capped off the perfect season for the Weirton Madonna Blue Dons, which resulted in, not only, the West Virginia Class A championship, but a 14-0 record for the local football team.

Like many in our area, in communities throughout Hancock and Brooke counties and even into Pennsylvania and Ohio, we offer our congratulations to the Blue Dons and Weirton Madonna High School.

This highly talented team has much to be proud of, piling up statistics and honors each and every week while facing off against opponents on the gridiron.

Success is nothing new to the Blue Dons, with numerous post-season appearances in recent years. Student-athletes bring as much positive attention to themselves and their school both on and off the field. They truly are a team, with each member stepping up and making contributions toward each victory.

It is through hard work and perseverance that such accomplishments are earned, and we applaud the players, coaches, managers and many others involved in the program who have continued to work together while meeting every challenge put before them this year.

Once again, we congratulate the 2013 Class A champions and look forward to continued success.
