Gift store offers unique service

WEIRTON – It’s a gift store with a bit of a twist.

Bee-Thin and Gifts held a grand opening Friday, welcoming local business representatives and other guests to peruse the variety of gifts and other products available for sale.

The business is located at 1900 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, and owned and operated by Amy Hutchison.

In addition to the candles, lotions, jewelry and other gift items available for purchase, Bee Thin and Gifts also offers a variety of health supplements produced with bee pollen.

Hutchison, who is a Clarksburg native, had been working at a local hospital when she learned of the bee pollen supplements from some friends and decided to try them for herself.

Others heard about the supplements and began ordering them through her.

“I had 10 sold before I started taking it,” Hutchison said.

While she said many take the supplements to assist in weight loss, there are different types available to help with digestive issues, fibromyalgia and other conditions.

“It gives you that natural energy,” she said, noting some of her customers are in their 70s and 80s.

Hutchison said she has dreamt of operating a gift shop and because of the growth of the bee pollen business, she found herself needing some bigger space than her home would allow.

Bee-Thin and Gifts is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
