Support Rotary Mardi Gras Gala

What has become one of the Weirton community’s premier social events of the year is fast approaching.

The Mardi Gras Gala, hosted by the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights, will be held March 1 at the Serbian-American Cultural Center, and, as always, is sure to draw a big crowd for an evening of fun, food and live entertainment.

The gala is the biggest event this Rotary Club holds each year, but it also serves as a major fundraising opportunity for some of our community’s local organizations.

Each year, the club selects a beneficiary to receive the proceeds, and this year’s recipient will be the Table of Hope program, which works to provide dinner and fellowship to any resident who is interested.

Table of Hope has served meals to more than 11,000 people since it was created only a few short years ago at First United Methodist Church, and relies entirely on volunteers to operate.

As the name would suggest, the event is a festive scene, with food, decor and music reminiscent of the event’s namesake.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Adam Brock and his Soul Band. Brock, who was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, was a semifinalist on Season 11 of “American Idol,” and is sure to put on a great show for those in attendance.

There are always other surprises throughout the night as well.

With only a week left, there still is time to show your support for the Rotary Club and the Table of Hope.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available, and we hope you will consider making a contribution if you are able.

Sponsorship levels available include: Diamond, $2,500 and including 20 tickets; Platinum, $1,000 with 10 tickets; Gold, $500 with six tickets; Silver, $275 with four tickets; and Bronze, $150 with two tickets.

Individual tickets are $50 each.

The Mardi Gras Gala and Rotary Club have a rich history of giving back to the Weirton area, with prior galas benefiting the Weirton museum, local youth sports, emergency utility services, the Community Bread Basket and local child advocacy organizations.

We wish the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights all the best for another successful gala and hope to see a great crowd turn out next Saturday.
