Changes in store at Madonna

Weirton Madonna High School will have a familiar face at the helm beginning July 1.

We congratulate James Lesho on being named the new principal of the local school, taking over for Steve Grasser who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

Lesho is no stranger to Madonna or the Weirton community. A graduate of Weirton Madonna himself, he has spent the last decade as the principal at St. Paul Grade School, where he has increased the amount of technology available to students at that school, enhancing the curriculum for the benefit of today’s students and they prepare for the future.

As a result, Lesho already will be familiar with many of the school’s students and staff, as well as what is expected of him in this new role.

There still will be some adjustments to be made, but we are sure he will rise to the challenge and wish him well in this new endeavor.

We look forward to watching him guide Weirton Madonna into the future.

We also wish to thank Grasser for his leadership over the last two years. Uprooting his life and moving to a new community is never an easy decision, but he did just that and we recognize his hard work and dedication to the school, the students, faculty and the field of education.

The education of our young residents is important for their future and the future of the community.

For years, Madonna has done just that, encouraging students to find ways to serve their towns and schools, while preparing them for a better future.

We know that will continue for many years to come.
