Concert season a success
The Weirton Summer Concert Series continues to grow, bringing in more musical acts and drawing bigger crowds than in previous years.
Every good thing takes some time to build itself up, and the concert series is proving that to be true, attracting hundreds of area residents to the Weirton Event Center almost every Friday this summer to listen to a variety of regional musicians and bands.
At only three years old, the popularity of the series is amazing, and we look for it to continue growing for many years to come.
There has been just about something for everyone’s taste this year, with everything from country to blues to R&B to rock ‘n roll.
The schedule has been filled with a few new faces, along with several area favorites.
Returning to the Event Center stage were acts like the Joseph Sisters, Beatlemania Magic, Legend, Spinning Jenny, Bone Daddy and Jill West and Blues Attack.
They were joined by Kylar Kuzio, Tres Lads, Justin Fabus and, of course, the appearance of the Davisson Brothers to help celebrate West Virginia Day.
Also featured was the return of the Wheeling Symphony, which drew an amazing crowd.
It has been a great year, with extras like fireworks and car cruises adding to the excitement.
We thank the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as all of the local sponsors and other supporters for making this year’s concert series a huge success.
And if you, for some reason, missed this year’s series, make sure to mark your calendars for Friday nights next summer and check it out.
