Rotary gala to help Christian center

February means one thing for the members of the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights. It’s Mardi Gras time!

The club’s annual fundraiser gala is set for this Saturday at Williams Golf and Country Club, and there is still time to get your tickets.

The Mardi Gras Gala, while a great evening, is much more than just a festive party featuring some of the colors, tastes and sounds of the Crescent City. Each year, Rotarians select a local organization to receive the proceeds.

This year’s beneficiary is the Weirton Christian Center, with its 99-year history of helping the Weirton community. From its earliest days of assisting the local immigrant population to today’s programs geared toward Weirton’s youth, the Weirton Christian Center has a long and storied connection to the community and its residents.

With programs for students from kindergarten through high school, the Christian Center will use the funding from this year’s fundraiser to assist with its operations as it continues to focus on expanding for the betterment of Weirton.

Saturday’s gala will include live music from the Groove Doctors, as well as food prepared by the country club staff, chances at a variety of prizes and an evening full of fun.

If you haven’t gotten your tickets, we encourage you to do so now.

It is sure to be a great night.
