Speaker series brings community together

Residents of the Tri-State Area have come to expect a quality experience from the Herald-Star Speaker Series.

That’s been the goal of the series since its first presentation nearly four years ago.

Each of the previous six speakers has provided a thought-provoking presentation, and has helped to put some context into important events. They’ve been enjoyable evenings that have come with a very modest price tag.

We’re certain that the next presentation, featuring Judge Jeanine Pirro, will be just as informative, and just as entertaining, as the other installments in the series.

Scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Steubenville High School auditorium, Pirro’s skills as a commentator and legal analyst will be on display. While many area residents certainly will recognize her from her Fox News Channel program “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” they might not know that she has had a long career in the criminal justice system, working as a prosecutor and a judge.

She’s won an Emmy — for her syndicated show “Judge Jeanine” — and she was chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People.

The price of a reserved seat is just $20, which means the evening is very affordable. The cost of attending one of the presentations is kept reasonable thanks to the support of major sponsors including the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Trinity Health System, Cattrell Cos. Inc., Eastern Gateway Community College, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and WTRF-TV. Also supporting the series are the Best Western Plus University Inn, Piergallini Catering, Steubenville City Schools, Hertz-Thrifty Car Rental, the YWCA of Steubenville, Legal Hair and Day Spa and Tri-State Financial Services.

The speaker series helps to bring our community together, and we hope you will join us on Oct. 10.
