Let’s put local people to work
To the editor:
Driving down our state routes, the roads are muddier than ever. You see dirt and out-of-state license plates everywhere you look.
If these energy companies would hire local contractors employing local people, maybe there would be a sense of community and, perhaps, respect for keeping our area clean, the way it was found. Local people who are employed spend money locally. We need the money and jobs to stay here.
Jefferson County’s unemployment rate is near 10 percent. There are just too many out-of-state workers, and we need more of a local presence on all this pipeline work.
