Drawing helps A Caring Place
To the editor:
A Caring Place recently held a fundraising drawing from March 9 through April 25. The prize was a 50-inch LED smart TV donated with the generosity of Dr. David Brown, with Wal-Mart in Steubenville contributing to the purchase at its store as well. The winner was Nicole Cook – congratulations.
On behalf of the board of A Caring Place, we would like to thank our donators who made this a success, enabling us to raise almost $3,000 for our advocacy center. We would also like to thank all the people who helped us to sell all those $5 tickets. Our board is small and everyone on it works full time with busy hectic jobs. We could not have done this without the help of the following people selling tickets: Kim Niedengard, John Meadows, Shelli Brooks, Roberta McHugh, Nick Washel, Brook Thompson, Rhoda Tempest, Terry Blackburn, Jay Jacobbi, Becky Barlow, Denise Smith, Doreen Dumbola and Ron Stillwagon.
Thanks to the Ville bar crew for selling: Rick Hritz, Ryan Thompson, Roberta McHugh, Deb Giuliani and Artie DeLeonardis and all the employees who bought tickets. Moreover, a special thanks to everyone who supported us with the purchase of tickets. All the money will go directly to A Caring Place, and will have many varied uses, such as equipment updates at the center and everyday operating expenses that we must take care of on our own. The funds also go toward purchases of prevention and awareness outreach materials on child abuse to distribute at many events, such as the upcoming Dean Martin festival and the Jefferson County Fair. And last, but certainly not least, I need to really thank our director and board for coming through again, one more time: MaryAnn Donnelly, J.P. Rigaud, Ann Dulany, Janelle Clifton, Shirley DiCarlantonio and Cynthia Morris.
