United Way poker run a success

To the editor:

The sun was shining bright on July 13, and so were a lot of motorcycles that participated in the United Way of Jefferson County Pledge Ride and Poker Run.

I would like to thank all those who came out to ride and support the United Way of Jefferson County, and Liz Zimmerman and Judy Manfred for their dedication in preparing for the event. All those in attendance were provided great hospitality by Manfred’s Restaurant and the Jefferson County American Legion Posts in Smithfield, Hopedale, Scio and Toronto.

For 14 years the community has been supporting this event. Neighbor helping neighbor is reflected by all of our sponsors: Aaron’s, Family and Community Services Inc., International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 246, Trinity Health System, Tri-State Financial Services, World Radio Telecommunications, Fellows Insurance Agency, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 232, A&B Pharmacy, Hauser Furniture, Iron City Distributing Co., Legal Hair and Day Spa, Murph’s RV Inc., Dr. Ronald C.
