Kasich: Stay away from Obamacare

To the editor:

As a resident of Ohio, taxpayer, voter and Gov. John Kasich’s employer, I strongly urge Kasich to exercise Ohio’s right under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution to refuse to use one penny of Ohio’s taxpayer money to pay for or administer Obamacare.

In June 2012, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Obamacare has no authority under the Constitution to force the states to pay for or administer Obamacare.

As I’m sure Kasich remembers, these mandates on the states to pay for and administer Obamacare were all part of the legislative trickery Obama and his allies in Congress used to make Obamacare appear to be less costly than it actually is.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the states, including Ohio, are under no obligation to pay for any of this.

Surveys continue to show that the overwhelming majority of Americans still oppose Obamacare and want Obamacare repealed. Obamacare represents the most serious assault on liberty by the federal government in the history of our nation. Obamacare includes:

* 21 new taxes and tax increases;

* The hiring of 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce Obamacare; and

* The building of 159 new Soviet-style government agencies to administer Obamacare.

In every country that has moved toward government-controlled health care, we see long waiting lists for basic medical treatments we consider routine in America, we see catastrophic shortages of doctors and we see an end to medical research and development of new life-extending medicines and treatments.

For all these reasons, I implore Kasich to refuse to use any of Ohio taxpayer money to pay for or administer Obamacare. We don’t need a Soviet-style health care system in America.

I will be watching Kasich’s actions on this closely.
