Parissi event a success
To the editor:
The Community Days celebration is a tradition in Mingo Junction that has an impact on the community in a variety of ways. It brings the community together and lifts everyone’s spirits; it’s a way of promoting the village, its businesses; and generates revenue for all local businesses, organizations and vendors.
I’d like to thank the Mingo Business Association for hosting the event for the fifth consecutive year and this year’s committee, including Frank Bovina, Jim and Kathy Freiling, Bob Pizzoferrato, Tom Fitzgerald, Rich and Rose Angelica, Sharon Cole and Francesca Carinci, for organizing a special weekend which included a performance by Rob Parissi and concluded with a banquet honoring him at the Mingo Knights of Columbus.
Thank you to the Mingo Council and the administration for all their help and the awards they presented to Parissi. Thank you to the revitalization committee for all the hard work it did preparing for community days.
Thanks to our sponsors, including presenting sponsors Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority and WTOV-TV; gold sponsors, FEX Processing, Dr. John Figel and Francesca Carinci; silver sponsors Trinity Health System, Schutzen Club, Fraley and Schilling Trucking; and associate sponsors AEP Cardinal Plant, Hess, Wheeler Funeral Homes, Mingo Auto Parts, Choice Brands of Ohio, Rich and Rose Angelica, state Sen. Lou Gentile, D-Steubenville.
Thank you to all the community sponsors, the Mingo Woman’s Club, Mingo Lions Club, the Balzano families, Yoho Construction and all the other volunteers. Thanks also to all the musicians, vendors, and special thanks to the Herald-Star.
Thank you to all the presenters who honored Parissi – Frank Bovina; Pastor Sam Davis; Bobby Pizzoferrato,; Rose Angelica; Tim McCoy; Francesca Carinci; village of Wintersville; Jefferson County Commissioner Thomas Graham; state Sen. Lou Gentile; U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta; Gov. John Kasich; John Fabian and Terry Stewart.
Special thanks to Tom Fitzgerald, Bobby Pizzoferrato, Jim and Kathy Freiling, Francesca Carinci and Frank Bovina for all their hard work in making this event a success.
And to Rob Parissi, your hometown is proud of you and as Terry Stewart said, you wrote a song that people around the world never get tired of – your legacy will go on forever.
Thank you citizens of Mingo Junction, the Ohio Valley and the state of Ohio for supporting our event.
