Today’s GOP sad reminder of past

To the editor:

Does it not appear that the Republican Party, primarily on the national level, is rapidly digressing from focusing on attempting to constructively address the multitude of challenges currently facing our great nation and is adopting a negative, uncompromising approach, which may be compatible with its partisan political agenda but continues to be counterproductive and anathema to our country’s well-being on a multitude of levels, and in so doing is placing the Grand Old Party in serious jeopardy of possibly losing much of its viability and influence in the future?

Apparently, it is just easier to simple oppose what others have proposed for the good of our country than propose possible solutions of their own, but this self-serving and narrow-minded attitude, although politically expedient, only makes it even more difficulty to move our country forward, as needed.

In short, of late, we are made well aware of what Republicans oppose, but what do they propose, and for what (positively) do they advocate?

It appears that a great many Republican lawmakers, including party leaders, have decided to adopt a philosophy and attitude more akin to that of the conservative media elites, such as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, etc., and, especially, demagoguery in lieu of productive lawmaking.

Apparently the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan has devolved into the party of John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruze and Louie Gohmert, leaving us with a sad reminder of what the Republican Party had once been.
