Check for business licenses

To the Editor,

This is an open letter to any and all that are considering a family portrait or an individual portrait for a Christmas present.

Please be aware! There are some unscrupulous and dishonest people out there. These people hang an expensive looking camera around their neck and call themselves a “professional photographer.”

These people are not licensed with the state to do business in the state, nor are they licensed with the city to do business within the city. Therefore, they are performing an illegal service and are collecting fees illegally.

Also, many times, the quality of their work is not as good as a true, honest professional photographer. Yes, the cost of their work is cheaper, but remember “You get what you pay for.”

So, if you are getting any photography work done for the holidays, always ask to see their state and city licenses to assure they are not illegal.
