Helping others rewarding

To the editor:

In December, for the second year, I had the privilege and pleasure or working the toy distribution at the Urban Mission.

While it is sad to think that there are so many families in need, it is still so rewarding to help those who are less fortunate.

I wanted to thank those who made it possible for me to help: Joseph Constantini, the director at Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority; Gerald “Yonk” DiLoreto and David Hindman, who are both on the JMHA board of directors; my co-workers, friends and AFSCME Union members; my father, Darrell Gaylord, who is always there for me; my brother, Jack Gaylord, and my sister, Jamie Gaylord MacKay from Houston; and my best friend and co-worker Aleta Monroe, who works with me.

A very special thank-you to Jody Strother, the store manager at Kmart, and Lois Moffitt for their help. All the gifts were purchased at the Steubenville Kmart.

God willing, as my mommy used to say before she passed away, I will do it again this year – anything for the children.

I only wish that I could see their smiling, happy faces on Christmas morning when they open their gifts.

Thank you, again.
