Questions about resignation

To the editor:

I was reading the story about the Jefferson County commissioners that appeared in the Feb. 14 edition and was disturbed by the news that Shannon Gosbin was resigning from her position as supervisor of the county water and sewer department (“County will seek advice on 211 money.”)

This came as quite a shock to me, because she has done a great job at her position, especially on the Crestview sewer project. I have known her for a long time. She is a bright, ambitious and hard-working individual who takes her job, and the best interests of Jefferson County, seriously. I have only heard positive comments about the good job she has done for the taxpayers of Jefferson County. I know she is well liked by the employees, and has a good working relationship with them.

It was not stated in the article why she resigned, and I think we, as taxpayers, have the right to know. Could any of the commissioners answer that question? I think they should find out, because she was a great asset to Jefferson County. Many would agree the job she has done speaks for itself. She always worked in the best interests of Jefferson County. I just hope whoever replaces her will have the same dedication, knowledge and work ethic that she has.
