Renforth works to help others

To the editor:

I am writing this letter to the editor and to the residents of Jefferson County to recognize a good man in our community, a man we all trust to protect our children – Scott Renforth.

Renforth works as a resource officer at Edison High School. I, for one, and I know other parents who feel better knowing that he is out there overseeing the protection of our children. Renforth is married to my niece, Christy. One day my daughter had a problem at school, and, knowing and trusting Scott, she confided in him her problem. He calmed her down, gave her some words of wisdom and she made it through her day, all thanks to him. That evening, my wife, over the same issue, called Renforth at 11:30 p.m. and he spent the next hour calming her down and reassuring her he had the situation in total control and he did.

Anytime I see him, he always greets me with a firm handshake and a smile and he always jumps out first and asks “How’s the family doing?” Another thing that I highly respect Scott for is that at our family picnics when everyone is playing corn hole or outside shooting the breeze, Scott is not, he is in the shelter house talking to my dad. My dad having a bad hip can’t get around too good and Scott spends hours keeping him company.

One last thing – Scott is running for Jefferson County auditor, he will definitely have my vote. He respects the young, the old, and everyone in between. I’m voting for the man with a firm handshake and a smile.

Thanks, Scott, for everything you do.
