Poppy Day a success
To the Editor,
Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary recently held Buddy Poppy Day in the city of Weirton.
This is our most important fundraiser of the year because the contributions we collect are set aside, solely for the purpose of providing assistance and support to veterans who are disabled, hospitalized in care facilities, and their families.
A significant portion of the monies we collect is used to purchase Christmas gifts for veterans who reside in local care facilities.
Thank you to the following businesses: Convenient Mart, 7-11, Strip Steel Credit Union, Kmart, Shop ‘n Save, and Tudor’s Biscuit World, also Dee-Jay’s for the contribution.
We would also like to thank Wal-Mart and First Choice America, even though we weren’t able to collect at those locations this year due to scheduling conflicts. We truly do appreciate the support local businesses give us.
On behalf of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 10 American Legion, I would especially like to thank our dedicated Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and members of Post 10 Honor Guard volunteers, and the city of Weirton.
The wonderful residents of Weirton and surrounding areas made Buddy Poppy Day a success again.
