Follansbee proves itself a class act
To the Editor,
This past Thursday, June 26, I drove 50 plus miles from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania to attend the Follansbee Community Days Kick-Off Dinner. My obvious reason for attending was to hear former Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz speak. And, I was certainly not disappointed. Coach Holtz gave an outstanding talk that was both inspirational and entertaining.
Beyond that, the Mayor and the other members of the Community Days Committee did such an outstanding job in all areas. The venue was great, and there was plenty of parking. The room decorations were outstanding, and the food was excellent.
What impressed me the most, however, was the sense of pride that the citizens of Follansbee have in their community. It was very moving to see some of the local musicians honored for their contributions to Community Days over the years. In addition, I actually got goose bumps when the band started playing the Notre Dame fight song and the audience stood clapping in unison. Coach Holtz picked up on it, and when he started singing along with the music it was a special moment.
So congratulations on an outstanding event, and I look forward to coming back in a few weeks to attend the Community Days celebration for the first time.
